The mission of Communities In Schools is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

Kids need you. Make a gift.

Communities In Schools of Georgia is the state’s leading organization providing drop-out prevention, connecting the most vulnerable students to the support they need in the classroom and beyond.

Last year, Communities In Schools of Georgia in Troup County celebrated 30 years of serving the youth in Troup County. Since 1989 (then Cities In Schools) they have been providing services to Troup youth and families.

Our services encourage positive outcomes in grade promotiongraduation, academic achievement, attendance, and behavior.  Learn more.

The success of CIS in working with students who are academically challenged and have many barriers is exceptional! I think every student could benefit from Communities in Schools.

The kids often come from situations that cause them to not trust anyone, especially at school. They really benefit from having an additional voice that would help them to build trust and assist with their confidence.

Together, we started a movement to design communities where children are safe, thriving and full of hope. We are incredibly honored to be partnered with Communities In Schools on this journey.

Our Goal and the Five Basics©

The Five Basics©

Programs don’t change kids, relationships do. Our philosophy is embedded in the CIS five basics for kids©, which focus on building a supportive environment for children and youth to help them thrive and be successful.

  • A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult. The First Basic is a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult. …
  • A safe place to learn and grow. …
  • A healthy start and a healthy future. …
  • A marketable skill to use upon graduation. …
  • A chance to give back to peers and community.

Our Solution to the Drop Out Crisis

Through a school-based coordinator, we bring community resources into schools to empower success for all students by removing barriers for students at risk of dropping out, keeping kids in schools and on the path to graduation and leveraging evidence, relationships and local resources to drive results.
