2015 Student Achievement Month Highlights
Evelyn Juarez – Elementary School – 5th Grade
CIS of Atlanta
I went to the CIS of Atlanta Summer Reading Program and it changed my life because CIS of Atlanta made me improve my behavior, my grades, and also attendance. I try to stay on time every day. For the first time ever, I made it on the NBA (Never Been Absent) Team by having perfect attendance and not being tardy to class. CIS of Atlanta changes people’s lives because CIS of Atlanta helps you make better choices with your behavior. Ms. Cochran tries so hard everyday for us. Ms. Cochran has been the best CIS of Atlanta teacher I’ve ever met. She gives rewards to encourage you to keep doing your best. Ms. Cochran makes sure to keep us on the right track. CIS of Atlanta benefits everybody but you have to encourage them to keep trying. CIS of Atlanta gives us the encouragement we need to be successful. I love Communities In Schools of Atlanta!

My drawing represents how Communities In Schools helps students to grow into a bright future by connecting students with teachers outside of the classroom. I have been helped by a teacher to believe in myself and that anything is possible. The roots represent the shyness and darkness that I isolated myself in. As the tree sprouts, the hands represents hope. If you have hope in yourself, you can reach for the highest. The roots also show how Communities In Schools can help the growth process of moving out of the darkness into the light.
