Over the course of the past year, Communities In Schools’ caring adults have gone beyond schools, beyond their normal job duties, beyond anything they’ve ever done in the past—all in service of getting students beyond this challenging moment in time.
Communities In Schools (CIS) often surrounds the entire family, especially in times of crisis. Last month, a CIS site coordinator went beyond the call of duty to help a family who was evicted. They had lost everything…
By partnering with community resources to provide clothing vouchers, kitchen appliances, supplies, and furniture, the site coordinator was able to help get them back on their feet. CIS staff even banded together to provide monetary assistance.
When the supplies were delivered our student said, “Look Dad, we are rich now.” Situations like this are humbling and remind all of us why Communities In Schools in needed now, more than ever.
When we come together, we can move beyond the challenges of this past year and build a brighter, more hopeful future for students—and for all of us.
