AmeriCorp Member Sends Home a Literacy Holiday project

Mrs. Bernestine Harden, Americorp Member and volunteer, prepared gifts for case managed CIS students so they can build a gingerbread house or train as a fun, positive activity to stay engaged during the upcomming holiday break. This is one of the many creative literacy engagement activities initiated by Family Connection-Communities In Schools of Hancock County, Inc. Students are encouraged to use their reading skills to follow and comprehend step-by-step instructions to complete their project. Students are encouraged to send their CIS Site Coordinator a picture of the finished product. “Literacy engagement is one of the strategies of Family Connection-Communities In Schools of Hancock County,” said Executive Director, Ms. Regina Butts.
