Atlanta, GA – Communities In Schools of Georgia (CISGA), the state’s premier model for dropout prevention, has announced the appointment of Jomal Vailes as Chief Philanthropy Officer. Vailes, a certified fundraising executive (CFRE), began December 1, 2017.
“We are delighted to have Jomal join CISGA and bring his considerable expertise in fundraising strategy to support our next phase of growth and impact,” said Carol Lewis, CISGA President and CEO. “Jomal joins our organization at an incredibly exciting time as we look to the future.”
In his new position, Vailes will be responsible for leading the agency’s fund development strategies and staff focused on expanding agency visibility and increasing support from individuals, foundations, corporations and government sources to advance CISGA in addressing student achievement. He will also work with executive leadership to increase the fundraising capacity of Communities In Schools’ development staff across a statewide network of over 30 affiliates.
No stranger to advocating for children in vulnerable populations, Vailes previously served as Chief External Affairs Officer for The Center for Working Families, overseeing fund development, communications and strategic partnerships as part of its Family Economic Success portfolio. He has also held key development positions for Georgia Aquarium and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
“I am excited to join such a dynamic organization on the frontlines of education and equity for our children,” said Vailes. “I look forward to broadening the support base to ensure Georgia’s students have everything they need to soar, regardless of zip code.”
