“Please meet Jakiyle Griffin!!

This extraordinary young man is a second grader at Dooly County Elementary. I had the opportunity of mentoring this young man for 2 years now. And, as the new Site Coordinator for Communities in Schools, luckily, he was on my case load!

Jakiyle’s zeal for school was at an all time low at one point. He never liked coming to school. And, often, he would cause many disruptions in the class as well. I would constantly check on him, trying to pour into him the encouragement needed to be a successful student. The importance of being a respectful young male was driven into him frequently by his teachers, family, and others.

Well, let’s fast forward!

Success is a series of small victories!

I’m thankful for the small victories and the beginning of a successful year for this young guy!

Jakiyle currently has NO write ups and he was awarded a Perfect Attendance award at for the 1st nine weeks! Jakiyle is truly the master of his own destiny! As he ran to the floor with excitement, I stood there basking in joy, praying that I was somehow influential and impactful on this young man’s life and his future goals.”
