Albany-Dougherty County

    • Delivered learning materials to students without internet access or computers.

Catoosa County     

    • Checked in regularly with families by phone.
    • Called students to assess needs perform mental wellness checks.
    • Assembled food bags from the CIS food pantry.
    • Set up a Google classroom for all their CIS kids at each site.
    • Worked to make sure all students had hot-spots.
    • Attended conference calls with partners to coordinate supports.

Central GA     

    • Continued Edgenunity classes virtually.
    • Continued the Jones Co. on-line reading program.
    • Worked with Backpack Buddies to get food to students on the weekend and assisting school district feeding program.
    • Connected with school district leaders and Superintendent. 
    • Secured a baby bed and baby supplies for a new teen mom.

      Cochran-Bleckley County    

        • Reached students by sending messages, through parent contacts, social media and postcards.
        • Prepared Blessing Boxes for some of their most at risk families and board members made donations to help fill those boxes.
        • Participated in webinars and online conferences to help better prepare for when students return to in-person class.  

      Dodge County     

        • Coordinated for professional mental health provider to offer support on-line.
        • Americorps volunteers sanitized The Club building for students.

      Dooly County

        • Spoke with parents about online learning. 
        • Performed regular check-ins with students encouraging participation in online learning. 
        • Communicated with teachers about student performance.

      Douglas County

        • Assisted with school district feeding program once a week (5 days of breakfast and lunch for each student distributed).
        • Compiled a “one pager” to give to school system employees to pass on to parents.

      Fitzgerald-Ben Hill County

        • Sent hand written cards by mail, emails, and phone calls as needed.
        • AmeriCorps members, who work with primary students, mailed hand written cards and called once weekly to get check in with the parents.
        • Partnered with teachers for students that aren’t communicating with teachers or turning in work.
        • Reached out to teachers to see if they need help reaching anyone.
        • AmeriCorps and CIS Site Coordinators volunteered to assist with distribution of school lunches.
        • AmeriCorps members assisted with making of masks for nursing homes and hospitals and assisted with serving lunches at local soup kitchen.
        • Shared daily #covidkindness posts on facebook and instagram with acts of kindness, positive quotes, and information about family needs survey and ways to donate.
        • Partnered with Toys for Tots foundation who provided 250 books.

      Glascock County    

        • Operated affiliate food bank every Wednesday from 9:00 to 12:00 with drive thru service.
        • Took family referrals from Dept. of Family and Children’s Services and Sheriffs office.

        • Attended weekly meetings with leaders to stay on top of community needs.
        • Provided food care packages for 60 of the most in need students.
        • Developed a program of providing virtual learning to students in the after school program.
        • Hosted live classes with teachers 2 times per week in 30 minute sessions.
        • Posted STEAM activities for students to do and academic and fun activities.
        • Assisted with food and supplies as needed.
        • Helped 1st Responders, Emergency Management and the Sheriff’s office with Person Protection Equipment.

      Glynn County     

        • Assisted school district with food distribution and reached out to students.

          • Gave Golden Harvest weekend back packs for two weeks to support the weekend food desert.

          • AmeriCorp member has sewn over 200 hundred masks.
          • Provided weekly check-ins for case manage students by phone.
          • Sent reading supplemental material via mail to engage both parent and students in a learning activity.
